Moon Run Ranch Wildlife and Recreation

Moon Run Ranch is truly a recreational paradise. Snowmass Creek meanders along the entire east side of the ranch, providing a pristine and peaceful trout fishing experience. The creek feeds a large trout pond on the ranch, as well as another smaller pond that could be expanded. A continuous flow through the pond protects against winter fish kill.

Numerous wildlife lives on the ranch. A resident deer herd returns with their new spotted babies every year, passing through the yard of the ranch house and feeding in the open meadows. The blue heron visits the pond every evening, as the trout feed on the evening hatch. A family of red tail hawks raises their young in an old pine on the west side of Snowmass Creek Road. When it is time for their first flight, they soar over the pastures of the ranch. It is still safe here, in this hidden valley, and the wildlife knows that. They are at ease with ranch activities, horses, and people.

There is an extensive trail system for horseback riding & cross country skiing. One private trail leads directly into the wilderness from the ranch. The Snowmass - Maroon Wilderness trail head is 3 miles down the road from the ranch and provides direct access to over 180,000 acres of wilderness, 100+ miles of trails and numerous mountain passes, lakes and meadows for endless hunting, fishing and exploring opportunities.

Perhaps the most unique attribute of Moon Run Ranch is its proximity to Snowmass Ski area. A little known ski lift, located at the end of the valley, provides full season access to all of Snowmass Ski Mountain and Snowmass Village services. The base of this lift is less than 10 minutes from the ranch entrance. This lift receives almost no pressure from the public, resulting in an almost private lift for the residents of Snowmass Creek Valley.
